I posted the original message about the Poor pay clients because I kept reading about how so many of us abstractors are having trouble getting paid. Also, how many of the title companies will use an abstractor and when they owe them a lot of money, they will just switch to another abstractor.  We all do very good jobs for our clients and to be treated this way is extremely unfair. I have informed several of my clients who have given us a difficult time to get paid that I will be forced to put them on a list that is going around to all the abstractors, nationwide, of clients who don't pay.  It's amazing how quickly they all have decided to pay their bills.  I don't like to resort to threats, but on the other hand, I don't like not getting paid for my work (and I will still pay my abstractors, whether I get paid or not).
There are many good clients that pay on time, or are a little late. But the ones who won't return your phone calls, respond to your faxes or emails, or get nasty when you ask for payment, or make up excuses of how your work wasn't right so they don't have to pay you, these companies deserve to be red-flagged so others in the industry know they are "difficult" clients. Even if they pay in the end, the aggrevation and phone calls you have to make to get paid aren't fair to the abstractor.
