[-] Red Vision article on SOT - Donna Grady/NC (23 replies)
10/30/2005 1:05:13 AM (3073 views)

With all the hoopla about the companies that use SOT and may or may not be NALTEA members, trying to get the abstractors to do current owner searches for peanuts...($25.00#$@#!),   I find the article about the Red Vision to be rather distressing.  In fact I think I am visioning red.  I think the future of the paralegal abstracting business will no longer be necessary.

So the way I read the RED VISION article is that (coming to a town near you) in NC all I or anyone else who needs a title search done (Lenders) have to do is call up this magic machine and order a search and have it delivered in two hours.  "Some abstractors who work with Red Vision simply use their online services while others outsource searches directly to Red Vision’s title search teams when they encounter location problems or workload restrictions. According to Rees, the average current owner search is returned to a client within two hours....."
If it means that I can do my title work using their indexing and imaging, then WHY would I?  I mean I already have that access FREE from my county register of deeds provided by my County Commissioners which is paid for by my taxes.  So do a lot of other NC counties.  And the ones that are not online aren't going to give RED VISION their data.  So Red Vision is just going to be selling North Carolina on line that you can already get free.  But you can't check Judgments online in our state.  So how can RED VISION give you a search in two hours!

But thanks for the article SOT.  At the least, you keep us abstractors informed about those that see our service/livlihood  as a toy to play with to make them rich and keep us poor.
