Hey, Sam!

Once, again, I must correct a few mis-statements of fact.  I'm not a Republican, I'm a Conservative; there's a difference.  Furthermore, I have more than my share of disagreement and disappointment with the current administration and the Republican Party as a whole.  Simply stated, I am not a "Bush-bot"; however, I do think that this President is right on many issues, the key one being defense.

That brings me to point #2; if not for the United States, this world as we know it would not exist.  I want peace as much as the next guy, but not if it means giving up the freedoms that this great nation has afforded us.  Peace is not the absence of conflict; peace is what happens between well-orchestrated wars.  If not for the United States, you'd most likely be a lamp-shade or a bar of soap somewhere.  That's just reality, "dude".

As for the starvation and famine in Africa, that's because of tin-horn dictators like Robert Mugabe and his ilk who have a strangle-hold on their countries' means of production, not because of "corporate greed" or the "evil" United States.  If it makes you feel better to believe that, be my guest.  Everyone has the right to be wrong.

No, I don't care what other countries think of us.  The United States has rushed to the aid of other nations in need on more than one occasion, only to be scorned and spat upon for its trouble.  As Oscar Wilde once said, "No good deed goes unpunished".  Face it, my friend: the vaunted "world community" doesn't have our best interests at heart.

My assertion that you are ill-informed is not an insult, just a statement of fact.  Your statements prove that you are obviously not well-informed about the workings of our government, particularly if you accept everything that Michael Moore tells you as gospel.

Free-market economics has done more to raise the base-line standard of human existance than any other system that's ever been tried, and the United States has led the way.  That's not something that someone else has told me...the evidence is before us everywhere we look.   What other nation has done more for humanity than the United States?  What other nation is more "pro-humanity", to use your words?

Sam, if you don't like this country, tell me, what other nation on earth would you rather live in?  Pick the country, I'll even spring for your plane ticket.

I close by saying that it's a good thing you're not trying to win an argument, because you didn't.  This is not about republican-democrat or left and right--it's about right and wrong.

Regards,
Scott
