From the majority of stories that I have covered, most of those convicted for these crimes paint themselves as victims as well and say that they are "broke" or have no savings when they are sentenced. It is ridiculous, but it seems to be that the majority of people who cause these problems aren't paying the restitution they are being ordered by judges to pay.

I would assume that not paying the required restitutions would affect their jail time, but I am not a lawyer, nor am I a judge.  If anyone else has any feedback, please let us know.
