I feel because I am an American and part of society I can respond.
Where business is concerned, my prices have either stayed the same
or been lowered since 1992.  Most searchers knew each other and
did not try to undercut one another, but as the business grew, this became
impossible. Comparing the unionized auto worker to the title industry,
(which BTW is how I took your post) is comparing apples to oranges.
We are in no way organized or unionized.  As far as entitlements go,
I feel I am entitled to being paid for whatever I work for, nothing more, nothing less. Sadly, this does not always happen.  does that mean I'm a glutton? As far as looking for a price break where I can, who doesn't?  Isn't  that what your are doing when you outsource? (include overseas)
My customers use me because I care about their needs, and my work.
I take pride in what I do, as many American's do.
