The bad thing is, the reason why drunk drivers do not get "hard time" is because alot  judges are drinking and driving too so they don't see this as a big deal. The driver that hit my son, 3rd offense and driving without a license, got 1 year in the county jail and when I asked the state's attorney why she gets away with it so much, his exact words were, "How can the judge give her good hard time when he drinks and drives every weekend."
