I couldn't agree with you more . We are underpaid for our contribution. I really think my point was that this article on CNN misleads consumers and really makes us (as abstractors) look like we don't earn the (little) money we do make, although that wasn't the jist of the article. We have to remember that consumers are demanding and really somewhat shape the way lenders, etc. portray us as abstractors. I really just have a problem with the way that this reporter minimizes the title clearing process in relation to title insurance. Now, when consumers are misinformed from articles like this, how do you think the lenders and title companies are going to appease them? You got it, out of our pocket once again! Competition as as far a closing fees has been big business for lenders in the recent REFI wave and that is part of the reason we are doing work for half the price we should be. Again, just my two cents that I still have in my pocket!!
