You don't think you need NALTEA but you need the support of your fellow abstractors? I don't think I follow the logic there. NALTEA is the only association dedicated to abstractors, how can you expect any kind of organized support if you don't join the only professional association that is trying to bring the abstractors together?
As Kevin has suggested there may be a lot of apathy that will prohibit the abstractors from ever effectively organizing. NALTEA has attempted to create some unity in the industry but, for whatever reason, too many abstractors have decided that they don't "need" it.
My advice, if you want the support of your fellow abstractors, you should join and support their association.
