We have the old DocuPen and found it awkward and difficult to use. You need to be able to place the document on a pretty hard surface which is a problem when it came to maps... we can never take them out of their book. We also found that the size was a problem... scans only 10" wide. I would be interested in knowing more about their new one. We do use a terrific little scanner made by Antec for our mobile office. It uses the laptop as it's power source. What is also great is when we bought ours they were only $40!
