If we can help you out with some advice, let us know. We chase after a lot of delinquent accounts for clients in Connecticut. You may need to get a local attorney involved. We are in the process of phasing out the abstracting end of our business. Between low ball rates, no pay/slow pay clients, reduced volume from outsourcing and unreasonable turn around times it does not make any sense to pursue this end of the business...too much hassle ... not enough money. It really is humorous to talk to some of these people. They try to dictate terms to you when they offer little in the way of remuneration, volume or timely payment. Everything in the industry has been negotiated down to the bone, so they really have nothing left to offer you in return for the level of service they want. It would be nice if they could realize that their prior pressure to reduce abstractor's fees has left the VM's with little in the way of negotiating power. It becomes even more ridiculous when they have an open tab.
