I too was going to post, and went back and forth on what to say, my mind was just clouded with the deaths of teenagers here several years ago. Suicides and overdoses - I live in the county that lost many young teens to heroin overdoses in the late 1990s and I heard its back - one death a few months ago. Just trying to be "cool" for one night. So sad - kids who were on the football team and absolutely beautiful young women - mothers who visited graves instead of proms. I guess that is why I didn't post - I was overwhelmed. I didn't know what to say - but knew of the pain she felt.
As far as posting personal stuff, I don't think anyone should stop. Whatever, I posted or said, it has affected someone in a positive way - maybe not you and maybe not the person next to you - but someone. When I posted the video "Interview with God" I received an email telling me that she knelt down and said a prayer to God to thank him for telling me to post that. For her, whatever the message was it was needed in her life - at that moment. Small things can be great in another's life - did ya all hear of the story of the boy who helped another boy carry books home from school? Long story short, he had so many, he kept dropping them - someone saw him dropping them and decided to help him carry them. What he didn't know is that this other boy had cleaned out his locker with the intent to commit suicide that night. That single act and the friendship that developed saved that boy's life and the other boy never knew until the boy who was going to commit suicide not only graduated but graduated with honors. In his honor's graduation speech, he told his story and thanked his friend for the friendship they developed.
There are real people here and I truly believe if we take out the "personal" stuff, the stuff that truly connects us, there would not be so many posts and so many people reading them.
