I believe here in CT that the Clerks are required to redact information such as Social Secuity numbers, etc. (some do, some don't) I know Vital Statistics and Military Discharges are no longer a matter of public record, without good cause. ie. some clerks will allow us to examine death record in conjuction with a title search if they have not been put in public record. I think a sweeping change is in order as to Texas! My feeling is "If I were the County Clerk, I would feel morally obligated to protect sensitive information, while still making information accessable. Once again this just proves that everything in the country is FOR SALE.
