Did your ancestors urinate, defecate and leave trash and backpacks filled with drugs on people's lawns when they came here?  There's a big difference between the manner in which your family came here and the incursions we're seeing on both our southern and northern borders.

I was not trying to change your mind about anything, F. Lee, nor did I attempt to offer a solution to the immigration issue.  I do know, however, that granting the illegals amnesty is not the answer, and further legislation declaring them criminals would be redundant.  Here's an idea...let's start enforcing the laws we already have! 

Regarding tougher border enforcement, your're preaching to the choir.  You are correct in your assertion that the federal government has failed miserably in its duty to secure the borders, but it doesn't change the fact that these people have broken the law.  Are you suggesting that we stop punishing criminals because it's too expensive?

To say that sending illegals back to their country of origin would be too expensive to the taxpayer is a specious argument.  I want to see my tax dollars spent deporting them, not supporting them!!

It's times like these that you make me wish I had my Bar card, F. Lee.  You force me to exercise my critical thinking skills and would no doubt be a worthy opponent in any courtroom.
