Just one final thought on all of this.  Jason, you cite some very good examples, and no doubt there are other cultures which espouse a strong work ethic.  You are also correct that we Americans live our daily lives with an almost blithe sense of entitlement; but consider the scores of people who are willing to risk their lives for a chance to come to our shores to live the "American Dream".

Can any other nation on Earth say that?
