The pitiful part about it, George, is that we all willingly "sell" this information to third parties every day. I'm sure everyone is familiar with those discount cards that the grocery stores issue which supposedly give us an incentive to shop at a particular store.
By using those cards we are, in effect, selling information about our buying habits to the store in exchange for a few cents off of each item we buy. Is anyone naive enough to think the store isn't re-selling that information to mass merchandisers? Scary stuff, to be sure, but it's nothing new.
