That is certainly the right approach to the problem. Unfortunately there are a multitude of abstractors that will drop their rates to accomodate the demand. How they are making money...god only knows. The nickle and dime garbage that this occupation has become hardly makes it worth while killing yourself over it. There are too many easier ways to make a buck.
