You are soooo right about doing Texas searches online.  Not just full searches but current owner searches.  If you come to the sites you think this has to be real simple - look at all the ways you can search and narrow down your items - that thought alone made me laugh.  They enter records for the same piece of property so many different ways that the liability is high for those of us that know the county, especially Dallas county.  The company doing Dallas and Collin counties now are the same and researchers are ready to pull their heads out because it now has become worse than ever.  The property could be listed under the block #, the city block, the survey and all kinds of different variations of how this is done, the plat numbers, etc.  Not any way consistently, but separately and they could have been placed in fields that don't even represent what you are entering in like "freeform."  The sad part is this is the only way we can perform the search because how else do you narrow down a hit of 25,000 records?  So some of us in the bigger counties, performing the search 10 or more different ways is easier than going through 25,000 records but you have to know what you are doing in that county.  You will think you got all the records but if you are not privy to Dallas county records you have high liability hanging over your heads.
