Jay,
I really have to agree with Ellen. In its current form, I think there is going to be a problem in attracting new members to Naltea. The prospect of paying $200.00 per annum for the privilege of donating your time pro bono for the betterment of the industry really does not play very well. People want to see a return on the investment. There appear to be people out there that are struggling to keep the doors of their abstracting businesses open that need an answer now...not years from now.
The abstractors are losing ground every day. One has only to review the posts on SOT for the past few months to confirm that...VM's pressuring for reduced prices...slow pay/ no pay title companies...escalating expenses of business operation. The short term prognosis is not good. A long term solution is not going to suffice. Naltea needs to acquire some muscle to effectively meet the challenge.
I really have to congradulate Ellen in a novel approach to the problem. Whether it is economically attainable is another matter that warrents some investigation.
