This is where you take control of your own business and tell them the new prices.  The problem with all of this is they take away counties that go on line - usually the bigger ones and ones with the most volume - the ones we make the bulk of our money for then abstractors scramble to get the outer counties and low-ball if they have not worked them and don't understand you have to have much higher fee to cover travel and not many orders.

I am going to change one of my biggest counties pricing.  I have to - went on line and they can see the documents too but it prints unofficial on the document so if they need a clean copy only doc retrievals come in and very little.  Well we still have the 4.00 parking at the courthouse and the travel and expense.  I see document retrievals becoming real expensive in this county.  There is going to be alot of liability in this county for alot of folks doing this work online - terrible indexing and very hard county.  They are going to miss major documents not knowing the county.  Some local abstractors would not even work the county when it was off-line.  Too much liability.

If it gets that we are only servicing the smaller counties and getting a few things from the other courthouses that they cannot obtain online such as a probate, etc. you have to make your fees high.  We should be totally out of volume discounts, make a deal because someone else is cheaper - its happening too fast (look at the posts from day to day) and you have to protect yourself and your business.  Ones that don't get pricing up fast with what remains will be the ones that are out of business six months from now.
