I had a chat with my boss yesterday about our fees. Some of our clients are calling various fees, junk fees. It seems we need to do our part to educate Realtors about what we as the title company charge and what the lender requires us to charge. I don't think enough time is dedicated to Realtor classes explaining what title insurance is and what we charge and the liability we accept.
As far as this bill goes, it's nothing that we aren't doing already. This bill is currently sitting in joint committee review. It will never pass, but I thought it was a good example of our supremely informed politicians at work.
