Actually just talked to Robert about the title of his post... using correct math, "title problems were found in 36 percent of all residential real estate transactions, up from 25 percent in 2000" would indicate a 44% increase in title problems per transaction ( (36 - 25) / 25 = 0.44 = 44% )  , not 11% as the title of the original post indicates.... a startling trend, no doubt about it.
