Judy,
That's a very nifty website. I have seen it. Are you familiar with the term propaganda? stand.org, The parent website of standup - amongst literally hundreds of other "stand" issues is nothing more than the dislocated left wing of the liberal party. Reading the list of board members of this group is like a who's who at the Kennedy cocktail party.
I'm sorry, I don't disagree that there is a serious problem with our schools, but I do find fault in your numbers and the numbers so brazenly posted on this website. It's typical liberal scare tactics like this that give so little respect to your party.
and I'm not doubting your desire and goal to see that America's youth prosper, I'm saying perhaphs before you go into battle, bring enough bullets, and make sure they are for the gun you're carrying. If we were to debate on facts you would come up a tad short. We can't always believe what we are seeing, especially when there is a motive behind our information.
A better site for you to peruse is maybe the nces.ed.gov site. It gives the actual data of the school drop out rates as reported by the schools themselves. What you will find out is that since 1980 the average number of dropouts per year is approximately 520,000. As you will see by the actual statistics from a reputable site, we are far lower than that currently. Furthermore, if you take the average dropout rate from 1992 to 2000 you will see a stark difference than what this current administration's record is. I have an extra backpack full of ammo if this isn't sufficient btw.
These are the facts presented by the schools themselves, not the ACLU- backed, liberal "stand" families of website propaganda.
So that you don't think I'm pulling these numbers out of my head here is a sample of the information.

I'm just sayin'
