I understand what you mean Judy. My husband and I both went to public schools, but send our children to parochial schools. Our statistics are that 95% of the students don't only graduate, but go forward into college. I believe if parents are paying for their children's education, than they want to be more involved. As for the public schools, a lot of parents use them more as a babysitter, than as a place to get an education. Things are not appreciated when they come free. I don't think the focus should be as much the teachers and the schools, as it should be the parents. It always starts at home first.
