My husband, his family and my father's family who waited years, paid hundreds of dollars, and in some cases needed a financial pledge of support and sponsorship by U.S. citizen residents, are not in favor of REWARDING people who entered this country illegally.
I agree. I am not heartless, but where else in the world can you enter a country illegally, have a child born here who automatically becomes a US citizen by right of birth that can immediately petition to have his/her parents remain in the U.S. because "they are needed to raise the child," get a "free" public education through the 12th grade, college scholarships, medical services and other financial support all paid by legal U.S. taxpayers.
Personally, if the U.S. government hit the employers in the pocketbook who hire illegal immigrants (knowingly or unknowingly) there would soon be little incentive for someone to sneak into this country to work.
