There have been postings regarding Value America before.  I answered a post a year ago but I will tell you what I know about Value America.
It was started 10-12 years ago by the people who originally started Lenders Service (over 25 years ago).  Most of you would not remember the original Lenders Service---now Fidelity - LSI.
It has focused on setting up Joint Venture Companies in the past few years.  They set up companies that are vendor management companies that are owned by a Lending Institution.  They also have an order platform called ValueNet.xsp, that they market to vendor management companies.
They are honest people, so I don't think that they would abuse your credit card or bank information.  They are in the business to make money, however.  They are doing this to make money.  They have tried several different ways to get extra revenue.  Originally I think they were asking $100.00 to be set up in their data base as a preferred vendor  (We all know that didn't fly)
When they started selling ValueNet.xsp, their sales pitch to the Vendor Management Companies was that it would cost them $2.00 for every search & $2.00 for every mortgage filing. But the VM would not have to pay for it.  They would have the abstractors pay for it.  They also told them that the abstractors would type the work into their site.
I am sure there are abstractors out there that are doing this.  But not all abstractors have the equipment or the inclination to do this.  So the requirements have changed over the years.
They still ask for the $2.00 per order & that is suppose to put you on their preferred list.  I know abstractors who refused to pay the $2.00 & they are still receiving orders.  I am sure it depends on the area and/or the quality of the abstractor.
I don't believe in telling anyone how they should run their business.  People need to remember that not all states & counties are the same.  What works for you might not work for someone else.
I do what I feel is good for my business.  I am from the "old" days.  I know that I probably don't charge enough, don't ask my searchers to charge less, give away too much for nothing, etc etc.  But I live with myself & I operate by my values, not someone else's.
I personally won't pay anyone to receive work.  But then again I have not had to----YET.
