Jay and Kevin.....
Ok...perhaps I am biting off more than I can chew..but here's the deal. I will research the fifty states; and compile the data for presentation here online. There are a lot of views to this thread, but no responses. I think some people are intimidated by the "title insurer" aspect; but having been in management and responsible for underwriter contact for part of my professional life - I feel that we could comfortably come up with an underwriter, maybe even more than one. With Kevin on board for counsel during the set up process, we may have a chance. I am asking those of you out there in SOT-land to contact me if you are familiar with your States requirements for title insurance. And, I would really like Wanda's input as to this thread. I think those who are currently active in NALTEA are truly afraid of how much of a burden this will put on them; and I don't blame them for feeling that this would be too much for them to take on. It would. But it would only take about 400 more members to pay two salaries - one for Manager and another for a Marketing person. And I know that sounds like a lot of members; but we may be surprised by the amount of people who would be willing to step up once its in place. More research will need to be done for the Business Plan to be presented to an Underwriter...and I will committ to that endeavor also.
I truly don't think this will destroy the direction NALTEA wants to take in the long run. It is a means to an end; which is to influence the industry and provide stability to current professionals. Once all the information is in place and data obtained - I would assume the next step would be for the current membership to vote on whether they want to step in that direction. I agree with Kevin that current members deserve recognition for their time and input to date; no one would dispute that. Those of us out here who are not members are not enemies of NALTEA.....most are just waiting to see what direction it takes.
