We usually just do the search as a current owner, which really it is. Fortunately this doesn't happen often. I understand this isn't the case for abstractors working in online counties. If your client consistently sends you these searches that are outside the range imaged records they are most likely doing the easier ones themselves or contracting them to the Indian "Abstractors".
I have ocassionally seen a pattern develop with one company where they seemed to be sending a dispraportionate number of this type of search but the county wasn't online and had few records to sell in bulk digital form. Usually, this wouldn't last long. I often wondered if perhaps their client was targeting a list of potential cusomers who were likely to have large equities. The elderly are the best candidates for reverse mortgages, etc.
