It is very helpful when several parcels are sold out of a larger tract and nothing further has been platted.  If you are used to doing mostly current owner residential searches this is not used alot.  However, large commercial properties or rural properties it is very helpful expecially if you have to search back to sovereignty (patton).  A 200 acre tract could be a 1 acre tract today - and you have to figure that out.
