No offence taken Scott. I thought it was an interesting article. I've never been to this county, it is about 200 miles away which puts it about 50 miles out of my range. I've wanted to go several times just to see it. I read a report that one journalist watched a coyote chase down a roadrunner in front of the courthouse. The water suply is alkaline so the county hauls in water for the residents. They are very close to the border, so on any given day their are probably more illegal alliens passing through than citizens. The sheriff patrols with a shot gun and an AK 47.
I have another county that is inside my territory and is very small. Borden County only has about 600 people and no gas station in the whole county. It's in a small canyon and when you first see it, it feels like you've somehow gone through a time warp and turned back a hundred years or so. Beautiful place really. The last time I was there, I was caught at lunchtime and all the offices were closed. I spent my time reading the old plackard on the wall. It was interesting to notice that, tiny as it was, they changed sheriff's about twice a year for the first hundred years. I don't know if they were killed off or just rode off, but six months was apparently a long time to be sherriff back then.
