In Texas, what you call the recorders office, we call the clerk's office. What you call the clerk's office is our District Clerk's office.

Here in Texas, divorce files are often transferred between the two clerk's offices. This usually happens when a certified copy of a divorce decree is filed with the County Clerk's office. Usually this is filed by the attorney whose client won the property in the divorce but their was no subsequent deed filed to show the change of ownership.

Not long ago, I found the dates of birth, social security numbers, driver's license numbers, and location of an entire family in one of these documents. I wasn't shocked by this. It is typical.
