I have had such a huge problem with recording departments throwing the deeds and mortgages to me without first making sure that they were using the right calculations to record the docs in the counties I cover. I use to charge a flat fee: Example: $50 for deed and mortgage. I would go back and forth with the title company because they used Anne Arundel County fee schedule for Worcester County. (doesn't work that way here). I now charge a separate fee every time I submit the document to the clerk to record. Too many people trying to rush these recordings out and not paying attention.
