$80.00 for full searches - I know other independents in my area who are doing full searches for a LOT less than that. We are talking the $65.00 to $75.00 dollar range - no joke! As for charging higher to do a full in 8 hours, I just can't guarantee that will happen. Some full searches can be done in a day, but normally I get my chain one day and run it forward the next. After you factor in how long you are in the office (taking/making phone calls, re-faxing, opening packages/mail, calling workers with questions or orders, etc.), your drive time (30-45 minutes depending on the county), other orders due that day (currents, 2 owners, filings, work from day before), maybe a quick bite to eat, and the county closes at 4 or 4:30 that leaves not a lot of time to guarantee someone I can get a full search done. I don't mess around either, I am up at 6:30 every morning and usually work until somewhere around 6 at night. Maybe if my counties were open later, this would make things easier but it just doesn't work that way. I need my 48 hours and I don't think that is unfair. I think clients should understand that when I do work for them, I do work for other people too. The world doesn't specifically revolve around them!!!
