I believe that each state will have it's own distinct quirks as to how it would be handled in the course of a title search. Like Kevin pointed out in Conn, there are specific requirements for a M/L to be valid and or be something that needs to be reported.I would also assume that SC has unique laws regarding them too.In Virginia a M/L needs to be correct as to ownership, not "almost" , in order to attach , and then it merely gives the complainant the right to file suit within the 6 month time limit, if they fail to do that or get the wrong owners it does not attach. I am sure some research into the basics of SC M/L law will reveal what Wendi is looking for, maybe there is another SC abstracter that can provide her with this information.
