Scripture is never proven wrong...in whose opion other than yours. The Bible is an good entertaining book, and I respect other people's beliefs in in it. However, evolution makes more sense to me. I can give you the Catholic Church's postion on it if you like. The Church will accept mitigated evolution , but not atheistic evolution.
In mitigated evolution who is to say Darwin was wrong and that man evolved from the ape and at some point a soul was added...or in the alternative if there is any truth to the fall from grace who is to say that Adam did not fall to the level of the Ape. Surprisingly, either of these beliefs is acceptable.
With respect as to why we still have monkeys if we evolved from monkeys...there were many different branches to the human tree over the past 3,000,000 years. Some coexisted with others..others did not. Most notably the Neanderthals died out some 40,000 years ago, and all that remained was Cro Magnon Man. If the Neanderthals had survived we would have had a fourth race on the planet today.
