Why don't you skip the fax machine and just get a scanner and use the generic fax program in your computers, or a much better idea would be to get the scanner, get a version of PaperPort and  e-mail the docs- you can go from a poor 96dpi up to 600dpi with a scanner and PaperPort. Your docs will look like the do right from the court house and not like they have been processed by Waste Management.
You might be able to get a good scanner for $60-80 and a version of PaperPort for $50- a lot cheaper than those old fax machines and a lot better quality. Just an alternative to those expensive fax machines-
