David, I haven't been on our Va site for a while, but i know last June when searching for a particular person, socials were shown for the insurance license.
Virginia also had used ss# for driver license and in the past 5 years or so now gives the citizens the opportunity to change it to just a 'number' but I know with doing closings and checking id's, not everyone has chosen to have their ss# taken off their license. Dont know why they wouldnt.
I am still annoyed with our land records going on line. Now I have 3 in my areas on line. And the bad thing is the system you use on line is the same system you use if you actually go into the courthouse to search. But I have noticed that even thought the privacy act passed here back in 2001 wont let the clerks record anything with a social, some of the older records already scanned in as images still show the numbers, such as judgments. But aside from the ss#, peoples date of birth and addresses are still viewable on marriage licenses.
I didnt know about the Alaska thing. My sister is a nurse up in PA. I will have to check out things up there too. Thanks
