hmm. interesting but I'd hate to be that one abstractor who worked their for 20 years and had 3 dings. It's such a hard thing to call. This is not an easy business and this one topic like many others are hard to fit into one size boxes. Yet, I find myself trying to come up with one also. I think the write up idea is a good one becuase it kind of gets the point across in an official way. We decided to do that also. Have a standard form where they have to redo the search and then give a detailed explanation of how they missed the item and file this in their employee file. The difficult question is when they get 2 of those, then a 3rd a couple years later, or maybe only 1 year later. maybe one every 3 years for ever... The point at which it is too much is not always obvious. We also have never had a claim and I really hope it stays that way.
