Sandra: Do I read this correctly , that to do abstracting/searches in Kansas, you have to pass some kind of test and then be appointed or work with or for a title company ? What if you are an independent searcher/examiner and don't have any connection to the title companies and just do searches for settlement companies or attorneys? I know here in Virginia to write insurance policies the state  requires you to be linked or appointed by the title insurance company you are going to work thru, I can understand that- but there is no requirement for just doing the titles.

I spent a good deal of time in Shawnee and Marshall counties when I was younger and get to visit from time to time, always a treat, for me at least.
