Rick,
Glad to here you got your check. It is unfortunate that we have to go that far to get what we are owed for services rendered. Just yesterday I had a conversation with an older examiner who was interested in the mechanic lien . However was fearful of filing the lien against a person name. We are not filing against the name - but against the property.
There currently is a situation here where an examiner is taking a company to court that does work nationwide. In my opinion he will probably end up getting less than 50% of his money that way. The threat of filing (and if need be placing)  a lien against the property that a search was done on. I believe will make a company think twice. How will they expalin to their client why they didn't pay after collecting the homeowners money for the title work done?
