I was at the MDLTA convention in Ocean City, Maryland last weekend. There were over 250 people there representing title companies, lenders and abstractors. I have been to this every year for the past 5 years. I really enjoy the convention.
From what I understand, the title company/attorney will scan and email (sort of) to the Clerk's office of the county the doc will be recorded in. The recording fees will be electronically deposited into the county's bank account. This should be happening in January.
What I want to know, will the deeds that transfer property still be stamped by the treasurer's office or will that be done electronically, as well?
You can call any clerk's office in Maryland and ask them how to get in touch with the office in charge of online land records. That office is in charge of electronically filing.
