I was actually told by an attorney for one of the underwriters that they do want to hear when their agents are not paying their abstractors. It is an indication to them that their might be financial troubles and they start to look more closely at their escrow accounts. It can be an "early warning" to them... better to find out sooner than later.
Now, I doubt they are going to "directly" do anything to help you get paid, but if they start an audit and make it known that the reason for it is claims of non-payment by abstractors, they may become more diligent in paying their accounts.
