Thank you George, for clarifying the stand that HUD has regarding the kick back and mark ups that seem to be rampant with in the settlement industry. As abstractors we are the ones that have to take the hit when these companies steal our title fees - and the news is full of some settlement, or title agent or title insurance company getting caught doing just about anything they can to pad their financial accounts-none of which ever gets paid to the abstractor, since we are not part of their scheme, just a recipient of some of their thieving practices.
