     I agree a copy of the credit report AND the 1003 would be helpful to look for those mis-indexed mortgages, but like you said Robert not everything is public record.  Even if they black out numbers and dob's.  The information on both would actually speed up the process of the search, as long as the abstractor did not totally count on the information being entirely correct, no short cuts here.  If they listed two mortgages on the credit report and 1003, definitely search for other open mortgages, etc... 
     Is it too much to ask in this "hurry up got to have it now" world of ours?
