I would never argue that it would not be nice, but it would be very hard to require pre-payment of your clients when most others don't. I have in a few cases required payment in advance. There have been a few companies that I had been warned about by other local abstractors and when they call me to do their orders, I just tell them I will require a check in advance. Twice they have sent it, to my surprise.
As an ordinary course of business, though, I am fine with NET30. NET45 is becoming more common with some clients. Since our normal policy is to discontinue services at 45 days - it works out OK, but leaves them no grace period.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
