Attorneys are in a slightly better position with respect to collection...at least in Connecticut. We have a legally possessory lien for work completed on a client's file and the client's proceeds from the client's use of the completed work. The lien remains in effect until payment is made. The lien travels with the client file, and anyone using the information in the file does so subject to the lien.
