Hey there Shannon,

The thing that really buggs me sometimes is when I tell the truth, that 99.9% of abstractors won't say out loud and someone gets upset.

Only one abstractor in the counties I cover in Maryland EVER helped me. I actually had 2 abstractors several years ago approach me and say that if they found out that I was doing any work for the title companies that they work for, they would have me "black-balled" in their counties. My 300 pound harley riding husband then went and had a conversation with them.
I had never approached their clients, that is just what they did to new abstractors. Some time later, I was called by "their clients" which were nationwide companies and I did do some work for them. Then, when these abstractors cut their fees to $35 for a current owner here and the company wanted me to do so (along with $5 recordings), I politely declined their request.

Sussex County, Delaware is very "clicky" too. They have public computers on desks. When I was working there about 7 years ago, abstractors had actually put up pictures of their kids and their own kleenex on these desks with pens, paperclips and white out. If you try to use "their" computer or sit at the desk, they will tell you that you are sitting in their seat.

My brother in law and I went in to do a search and were told that we were at "her desk". My brother in law looked at her and told her this was a public place and the records were public, so step away.
