Yes.  However, I have usually seen the indexing of both the executer and the decedent.  "John Smith, executor of the estate of John Doe," in my opinion, should be indexed under both John Smith and John Doe.  

This is a good point, though, and worthy of discussion.  Hopefully, we all learned a little something from it.  Always check the fiduciary's name in the index.
