No worries, Judy. I have had these toner cartridges for almost a year (we always keep spares ready to go) and they have been in the printer for a few months. I wouldn't have taken them out if you had warned me - I would have probably just tried to make it through and ordered HP toner the next time.
This might be helpful, though, if it happens to anyone else. We cleaned the mess up with an anti-static cloth and a can of compressed air. So many of the parts in the printer, you aren't supposed to touch with your hands so you have to be careful. It worked reasonably well. That fine dust got everywhere, so we blew it out of the hard to reach areas and then wiped it up with the anti-static cloth.
