As we all discuss our struggles with non-payment, I know that several states allow abstractors to file mechanic's liens against the subject property.  SC is not one of them.  I'm very interested in bringing this before my elected representatives.  In that light, are there any of you out there in the states that DO allow the filing of mechanic's liens that can give me an idea of whether it has worked in getting the monies paid.  Or if anyone else has ideas from their state that work besides the normal collections procedures and small claims judgements.
