In Connecticut attorneys do pay an occupational tax to the State of Connecticut each year in the amount of $450.00 in order to maintain their licenses to practice. This is however tax deductible from your federal income tax if you itemize deductions ...along with real estate taxes...state income taxes and mortgage interest, or account for it in your schedule C as a business expense
